Display scaling issue opening Excel files from XY

Hi,
I've been using XY forever but just noticed a new issue opening Excel files from within XY (which I maybe just haven't done before..?). On a Windows 10 laptop in 3840 x 2160 resolution. When opening existing Excel files from within XY bizarre things happen with the display scaling of the worksheet area and also parts of the Excel interface.
-Excel files open correctly from the desktop or Windows Explorer
-Excel files open correctly from within XY ~IF~ Excel has already been opened other than by opening an Excel file in XY and is still open
-Excel files open correctly from within XY if the system is set to 1920 x 1080 resolution
-Excel has the same issue if opened through XY by activating EXCEL.EXE directly with no pre-exisitng Excel file involved
Not sure what exactly is happening but wonder if there is some setting that could fix it...?
Thanks

I don't think this is fixable. At least not for me. Win 10 and later have many display scaling issues, especially in connection with Office.

Hello, I have the same display scaling issues as described. However, if I open the Excel file by right-clicking and selecting "Open with..." and clicking "Excel", it opens without any scaling issues. Strange! Hope this helps diagnose the problem.

Interesting! Are you using the 32-bit or the 64-bit context menu? (see Configuration | Other | Shell Integration | 64-bit Windows | Show the 64-bit context menu)

The "Show the 64-bit context menu" is unchecked. One thing I notice is that when I right-click a file, depending on the file extension, the context menu sometimes shows "Open with..." and sometimes shows "Open with". When "Open with..." appears, opening the file with Excel does not exhibit scaling issues. Interestingly, *.xlsm files show "Open with...", while *.xlsx files show "Open with". Here is a summary of what I see:

*.xlsx - "Open with"
*.xlsm - "Open with..."
*.pdf - "Open with"
*.msg - "Open with..."
*.docm - "Open with..."
*.docx - "Open with..."

However, I experience scaling issues only with Excel files. Everything I've described above is not affected by enabling "Show the 64-bit context menu". I don't have any custom file associations set up.

Please let me know if there is anything else I can check. Thanks!

Interesting observation! There are probably many factors that control this: Office version, Windows version, installed shell extensions. The fact that only Excel has this problem makes me think it's more likely an Excel bug.

I've tried changing between the Insider and Standard Excel channels but I still experience scaling issues. I was hoping an XYplorer tweak would be available since no Excel scaling issues appear when opening files via Windows Explorer, but I agree that the solution lies within Excel, or possibly my display driver. Thank you for your thoughts!
