Pleeeeease, can we have it (as an option)...? It seems to obvious, especially with full row colouring, to just click anywhere and not exactly on the name...

Yep, I will add that. (I played a bit with Explorer to see how it's done there: totally chaotic! Each view seems to have its own ruleson where to click to select, to unselect, to trigger rename...
)
But, I need a good name for the feature, a name that works for all views. What about
Full Column Select?

BTW, I have a question that is just very remotely connected with this topic:
Loong time ago a tweak was introduced, that could control when a folder would expand in tree(!), when hovered during D&D. Meaning, I want a tree folder to expand when its row (in tree!) is hovered (not just when its name is hovered). I just can not find where one can tweak that. Maybe someone remembers?

Or maybe not such a good idea. There won't by any place left to start a drag-select from.

There is no such tweak. That was just a dream.
Oh, sorry. As far as I remember (sic!), once upon a time the expand-on-full-row-hover-DD-logic was in effect and was then replaced with expand-on-filename-hover-DD-logic. Would perhaps a tweak to choose between the two be possible without too much sweat?

I would not like to add another tweak but one might just tie it to the Full Row Select style in the Tree. Not sure. Opinions?

I wouldn't mind, but it does not seem clean (since under Tools we have Customize Tree... and Customize List...).
I have not been using Full Row Select until now, but would gladly do so. Alas, I have just found out that that option seems to be saved with tabs in tabsets, so in my way of using XY that would mean that for hundreds of tabs this option has to be changed and re-saved. A nightmare...

Good news! I made it work. Actually it worked already using a forgotten 9 year old tweak.
Code: Select all
+ Configuration | General | Menus, Mouse, Safety | Mouse: Added option "Full
name column select". Tick it to select an item in the file list not only
by clicking the icon or caption but the whole Name column. Works in views
Details, Details with Thumbnails, List, and Small Icons.
Note that drag-select still can be initiated in List and Small Icons views
when you start it in the empty area of the Name column of a non-selected
item.
This raises tweak ListFullNameSelect (v9.40.0001 - 2010-08-04 13:25) to GUI.
