I have to use icons regularly and some of them are not in the ico format but use png, jpg, etc.

Could xyplorer add the ability to see them in the file list like it does with ico's? Basically if they are of a smaller size (e.g., <= 128x128) it displays them as if they were ico like? Else all I get is is the default app icon that opens it ;/

i remember this was wished before but don't remember the result. actually i'd love to have at least PNG as icons for buttons, catalog, CFI , basically all things icons can be used.

Why not use Small Tiles view (64x64)?

it's not about tiles or icons for view, that's for toolbar buttons, tabs icons etc. PNG has transparency and one doesn't need to remember to have a convertor in touch whenever new cool picture found for favorite folder.

You mean for custom file icons?

well, i'd say everywhere ICO can be used now would be most cool.
CFI, button icons, tabs icons, scripting menus, etc = everywhere in XY.

@eil: this reply is probably superfluous because you are already aware, but if you weren't, toolbar buttons already support PNG.

And (pngs) are supported in menus (popupmenu, popupnested, etc.) as well

wow! somehow i missed that. still adding CFI would be final touch to cover everything, 'cause putting png as icon for folder was the reason i remembered this topic, and using same for files would be cool.

Thanks highend and jupe I didn't realize that or I forgot. Correct me if I'm wrong though, it doesn't appear that PNGs, when used as a toolbar icon, scale like PNG is capable of doing. When opting for an extra large buttons on the toolbar, the PNG buttons seem to be jagged or choppy like an icon so it doesn't look like XYplorer is actually scaling the PNG.

How large is your PNG file (in pixels)?

Hi Don, all the PNGs I tried as a toolbar button were all 256x256, 65,536 pixels, colors 16M ARGB (32 bit). I looked at them again and they're rough and not very smooth using extra large buttons. I don't normally use extra large, but I'd like to on a laptop. They all look great on the Info Panel preview tab.
