Feel safe using beta version?

Over the weekend, I finally plunked down my $$ for a license. And then I was faced with a dilemma: should I use the official released version from December, or the latest beta version with all the new cool features? I opted for the released version but am missing the new stuff a bit.
When I have used the beta in the past, I never recall losing or damaging any of my files. I had a couple of crashes, and XY itself did not always perform as expected. But I never experienced a reason to think the beta version was "dangerous" to my data.
Does anyone share this *positive* experience? It appears a couple of you use the beta for your everyday work, right?
I guess I need some encouragement to use the new cool beta. Thanks for any feedback.

I use the betas everyday for work. I'm usually no more than 2 or 3 beta releases behind (but usually am using the latest & greatest). I have never experienced any data loss, or weird crashes for that matter. Don seems to keep his "beta" releases pretty rock solid.
So I guess chalk this up as a *positive* experience.

++good.
I use the latest beta every day and only had a problem once (Black Thursday, who remembers that?

) which was my own fault for asking for a new feature anyway
I always keep a copy of the previous version as a precaution so that I can rll back should anything untoward happen.

Absolutely! XY's betas are very stable. I'm using the latest beta 99% of the time and never had any downside from this,
au contraire.
As mentionned, you might wanna keep an old version to roll back in case there's a problem, just in case. Even though I'll admit, I don't really do that....

+1 for all comments above. I never had problems with any of the betas since October 2005.

I've been using beta vers since about the 3rd day after I found the product! And haven't had any data loss due to it...have had a few times when it wouldn't do what I needed, so now keep about 3-5 older vers here also...partially to be able to revert back to see if a certain bug is new or older...
I've started opening the zip file directly from site and then extracting and saving the .EXE locally (after appending vers nbr to filename), since they are so similar in size anyway...
And yes, I also remember that ugly day...but hey, everyone who does great work makes a boo-boo now and then!

Thanks to everyone for the encouraging words. I've switched to using the latest beta. And I still have the released version available if I feel the need for it. Thanks.

I changed my mind about posting so here's essentially what I PM'd to orson:
Thought I'd just suggest that you use current beta and keep the SECOND prior beta as backup instead of "official"...so if bugs occur, you won't go SOOOOOOOO far back and lose some valuable updates...by doing so, that keeps you just a bit safer as there have been very RARE times when it took two updates to fix an issue..
I personally look at the beta notes and see if there seems to be anything that may affect my usage, and then decide if I want to wait a day or two...which is not often at all...usually due to being too busy, etc..
There have been times when I've had latest beta installed and running within minutes of Don posting it...
