If I'm not wrong, the chance of a sequence 0D0A is 1:65536 in compressed files (like ZIP, PNG, JPEG), so if a new download is not possible, just unconditionally replacing all 0D0A by 0A is likely to improve the situation for many files.

Fixed! (Managed to download them again, this time correctly.)

Yeah the pics (probably jpgs) in that mini tree thread viewtopic.php?t=12662 that looked wacky yesterday look fine now. :)

Wow. What a day. How many hours did I waste in hotlines listening to bossa nova before finally talking to incredibly incompetent IONOS "experts". You can completely forget about this kind of support. What finally saved the say was a tip from Horst! The site was under heavy bot attack, search and AI bots. Compiling a black list for .htaccess took about an hour. Problem terminated.

Well, the .htaccess black list was not enough. They are too many, too aggressive. I now disallowed all bots and crawlers from the whole forum via robots.txt.

Was this bot assault (somehow) triggered by the provider change or just coincidence?

I actually never have seen a black 'overload' on white background as a web server's response ever before.

Same here. I assume it's sent out by the servers at IONOS when they are, well, overloaded.

That's the question! Don't know. If the bots go by IP rather than by name, then my site might have been new to them and fascinating. It's a pity that the IONOS support lines are so clueless. I gave up calling them, it's just a waste of time.

In the field, assume you're always alone. ^^

Don't know your monthly fees, but I feel 'forced' to testify: it's worth it.

You mean because it's fast when not overloaded?

Yes, then it is fast and responsive!

I couldn't agree more. The last two days were hell as it often didn't even load. And when it did, it threw the "Over Loaded" error. Today all is well. And fast.

Thanks Don.

Just a FYI, a couple days ago the whole xyplorer.com domain went down for a little while for me and it just had a small text message something like "Zerotrans something misconfigured" or similar, but since it came back online the forum has had no favicon anymore when using "Flat Style" (my favorite), previously it displayed the same favicon as the main website, and the main header site_logo isn't XYplorer anymore, it's the generic phpBB.

Strange. I don't see any notes or traces that I ever customized the logo of Flat Style. But it's easy to do.
