It was not ticked, now it is, no change.
Below it,
All copy operations
All move operations
No progress dialog on intra volume moves
Check beforehand whether there is enough space
Are ticked

With your settings you should see a progress dialog now when you copy files. And its title bar should say that it's happening in the background.

no luck
tried a fresh install as well. no luck there either.
for the progress dialog, i may be just being dumb here. I'm getting the default windows progress dialog and have been this whole time(except when i copy and paste)

I give up. Can anyone explain why this setup refuses to run background operations?

The transfer completed before feedback showed. When the Transfer was at 99 percent I tried clicking in the window and it populated the same error. Transfer took about 15 minutes.

So you get the progress dialog and the processing happens in the background and all is nice when you copy and paste, but it becomes unresponsive when you trigger the same job by drag and drop?

One more idea. Try left and right drop to tree and list with this beta:

I just started a massive transfer, I'll give this a try in about 3 days (after it's finished)
