So can this be easily changed in XY? Is it desirable to do so? Would this change result in the performance hit that you mentioned earlier?admin wrote:Jeff,
I made some experiments with Explorer, and it looks like when you opt for "Hide system files" (translated from German) then it will hide files/folders that (1) are SYSTEM And HIDDEN, or (2) that have the *.sys extension. This might be not the complete conditions, but it would explain why your My-Folders were still shown in Explorer (because they are SYSTEM, but Not Hidden) but not in XY (where being SYSTEM alone is enough to be hidden when Show System Files is off).
I could only add a new button/function that mimics Explorer's behavior. But I'm not sure whether I should do this. Nobody ever asked for it. I think most people using XY always show all files anyway. I personally hide the HIDDEN files most of the time, but never the SYSTEM files.Jeff Bellune wrote:So can this be easily changed in XY? Is it desirable to do so? Thanks for looking at this again,

It also keeps them from being colored in case you use color coding.Jeff Bellune wrote:If you see limited usefulness, and no one has asked for it before, then I don't think you should make the change.
I can work with XY as it is now, because I am convinced that removing the system attribute for these folders is not harmful.
