Re: Disable XYplorer thumbnails
The tweak really didn't work.
I recorded my screen showing the tests: https://1drv.ms/u/s!Aicp80bKqtj92AAhCAOIonR4_otZ
Any direction?

As Don asked above, are you sure the tweak was still set when you did the tests?
Or in other words, are you aware of the "How to tweak" guide Don provided a link to in the same post and did you follow it?
As many of XY's users had stumbled over the peculiarities of tweaks in the past, the guide was created to make it easier to understand and apply.

I followed all tweak FAQ steps. Just tried again now, without success.RalphM wrote: ↑01 Nov 2018 12:31 As Don asked above, are you sure the tweak was still set when you did the tests?

By chance, is this tweak working for others?

Re: Disable XYplorer thumbnails
1) No idea how those "mystic thumbs" work. Maybe they just support 64-bit apps?
2) This must be unticked, of course: Configuration | General | Refresh, Icons, History | Icons | Use generic icons for super-fast browsing

Re: Disable XYplorer thumbnails
i second this
I literally have the same program installed aswell now
MysticThumbs, so that does the thumbnail generation for a few certain files
.psd
.psb
.arw
.cr2
however it seems to be conflicting with xyplorer generating its own thumbnails
in windows explorer, they appear to be all generated by MysticThumbs, but not on xyplorer

Re: Disable XYplorer thumbnails
yeah haha, is there a way to disable xyplorer from generating its own thumbnnails?
since i have that program MysticThumbs, doing thumbnail generating, they are being generated correctly in windows explorer, and stored in windows cache:
C:\Users\Tom\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Explorer
but even with caching and these settings disabled in XYplorer
xyplorer > tools > configuration > preview > thumbnails > cache thumbnails on disk: unchecked
xyplorer > tools > configuration > preview > thumbnails > auto rotate thumbnails: unchecked
xyplorer > tools > configuration > preview > thumbnails > align to bottom: unchecked
xyplorer > tools > configuration > preview > thumbnails > zoom to fill: unchecked
i think im getting conflicts with XYplorer generting its own thumbnails
here is a screenshot in xyplorer:
https://gyazo.com/ba7ea7fb3b1de9dcfe4bae59ab0ef512
as you can see half of the thumbnails are generated correctly with mysticthumbs (large thumbnail with a watermark in top right corner of thumbnail)
but the rest seem to be generated by xyplorer (i believe)
however in windows explorer:
https://gyazo.com/b81cb0ed8424370432f21946bebd4883
they are cached and dont re generated new thumbnails, and seem correct
the odd thing is that in xyplorer, it keeps generating new thumbnails and not loading the cached ones from windows explorer, which is why i think its a conflict with xyplorer?
so my question is, does xyplorer have its own thumbnail generation system and a way to disable it to let windows / mysticthumbs handle thumbnail generation?

Re: Disable XYplorer thumbnails
thanks
but just to confirm, so im not going crazy (as ive been trying to delete cache from all different places)
xyplorer is generating its own thumbnails correct? or is it using windows to do it
i thought if we disable
xyplorer > tools > configuration > preview > thumbnails > cache thumbnails on disk: unchecked
it would stop
just want to confirm

I guess this only stops caching but not the generation of thumbnails by XYTMProjection wrote: ↑08 Mar 2023 17:20 ...

Re: Disable XYplorer thumbnails
ok im a bit confused
so i uninstalled MysticThumbs, and any other codec that generates thumbnails for
.psd .psb
https://gyazo.com/092245c60e0355a27fb943dc58d69c9c
cleared my thumbnails:
C:\Users\Tom\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Explorer WINDOWS EXPLORER start > type > disk cleanup, check all including, thumbnail cache
C:\Users\Tom\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Bridge\Cache ADOBE BRIDGE adobe bridge > edit > preferences > cache > purge all cache now
C:\Users\Tom\AppData\Roaming\XYplorer\Thumbnails XYPLORER xyplorer > tools > configuration > preview > thumbnails > cache path: clear
yet im still seeing those being generated in xyplorer, yet thumbnails for those in windows explorer doesnt exist
is there another cache folder or something? how are these being generated if there is no codec to generate .psd .psb files?

Re: Disable XYplorer thumbnails
update: toggling
xyplorer > tools > configuration > preview > thumbnails > cache thumbnails on disk
off then back on
got rid of them, but what confuses me, is when i shutdown xyplorer, deleted that folder manually:
C:\Users\Tom\AppData\Roaming\XYplorer\Thumbnails
then restarted xyplorer, where did it load the cache from again?
