Don't refresh on rename

Post by Chris Wood »

I think most users would agree with me that it's quite disconcerting to have the current folder refresh when you rename a file/subfolder. Often this results in the file/subfolder disappearing from the screen as it gets re-sorted. Otherwise it's moved to a different position on the screen, or at best the folder contents just flicker. TrackerV3 should follow Explorer's lead and not refresh on a rename, or at least have an option to disable it.
test everything. hold on to the good.

This would also fix the annoyance of having to click OK on the "gonna do a refresh" dialog that pops up every time you rename the currently-viewed directory.

What exactly do you do to get this dialog up??? Neither can I reproduce what you describe in the other posting.

Sorry for being unclear. I have set "Auto-Refresh on File System Changes", but I think it should exclude renaming.

I cannot reproduce this. HOW do you rename? By F2?

Skip that

Hmm, I'm not sure myself now. Forget that second post, I'll post a new bug if I can work out what did it. The first post's still valid though.

Okaay... it happens every time when I rename (any way, with F2 or not), when I have "Auto-Refresh on File System Changes" set. I'm using Windows Me.

Puuuh, it's a mystery to me. Can it be the OS? Under XP, independent of "Auto-Refresh on File System Changes" settings, it works like this: you rename a file, and there's no refresh of the list, and no resorting: a wrong sort order resulting from a rename will not be automatically corrected. The renamed file stays calmly where it is.

To anybody reading this: please report the behavior on your system.

Renaming behaviour different in right pane

Post by Chris Wood »

This is probably part of the same bug:

After renaming a folder in the left pane, the renamed folder stays selected (as you would expect). However, after doing the same in the right pane, the selection jumps to the next folder down (and the renamed folder jumps off somewhere).
test everything. hold on to the good.

And here's the same answer as above: I just cannot reproduce this.
