Windows 11 Explorer Right-Click Spinning Delay Actual Test Feedback | Security Component Control Test & System Optimizat

Post by 946055491 »

# Windows 11 File Explorer Right-Click Menu Lag Issue Feedback & Optimization Suggestions
## 1. Problem Scope
This is a systematic common issue on Windows 11. It occurs consistently on **all new and old versions of Windows 11, as well as legacy and latest builds of File Explorer**. Besides, this problem is not related to storage media. **Files stored on either HDD or SSD will have the same spinning cursor and slow right-click response issue**.

## 2. Specific Issue Performance
1. When right-clicking files or folders, the mouse cursor keeps spinning, and the first cold-start right-click takes about 3 seconds to pop up the context menu.
2. After the first loading is completed, continuous right-click operations in a short period become fast and responsive without lag.
3. After a period of inactivity, window scrolling, or switching to other operations, the 3-second spinning lag will recur when right-clicking again, resulting in repeated poor user experience.

## 3. Windows 11 Windows Defender Correlation Test Result
Targeted comparison tests have been conducted to locate the cause:
1. Simply disabling Windows Defender reduces the right-click lag from 3 seconds to around 1 second, which relieves the delay but cannot completely fix the problem.
2. Completely removing Windows Defender brings a significant improvement, cutting the cold-start right-click delay to approximately 0.7 seconds.

It is confirmed that the background mechanism of Windows Defender greatly aggravates the right-click lag on Windows 11, yet it is not the root cause of this defect.

## 4. Comparison with Windows 10
In contrast, the native Windows 10 system requires no manual optimization or advanced tuning. Its default right-click menu response speed is stably within 1 second, with no spinning cursor or obvious delay, delivering smooth and responsive daily operation.

## 5. Development
1. Optimize both 32-bit and 64-bit versions of the xplorer program to improve the cold-start performance of xplorer right-click on Windows 11.
2. Prioritize optimizing the cold-start loading logic of the file right-click menu to completely eliminate spinning and delay issues.

Nevertheless, it is considered more feasible to develop an independent built-in right-click menu for xplorer, which only needs to read Windows native right-click parameters. This design can permanently avoid performance limitations caused by the Windows system default right-click mechanism.

The file right-click function is a high-frequency daily operation. The persistent lag greatly reduces work efficiency and user experience. We sincerely hope this issue can be valued and fixed in future system iterations.

##6 .Final Recommendations and Comments
Assuming that Xplorer invokes the native right-click menu of the Windows system, my suggestion is to simply bypass the default Windows right-click and independently develop a dedicated built-in right-click menu for Xplorer.
Relying entirely on Microsoft for fixes and optimizations will lead to an extremely long waiting period from feedback to official updates, and this issue may never be fixed at all. Submitting feedback alone has little practical effect.
A better solution is to bypass the system’s native right-click and integrate a fully custom self-developed right-click menu into the software.
In short, the program can implement its own right-click panel while reading and loading all parameters of the system default right-click menu.
This approach can completely break free from the limitations of Windows underlying logic and system optimization flaws. It allows full performance control at the program level, ensuring the best possible user experience for the software itself.

To summarize:
If xplorer does rely on the native Windows 11 right-click menu and relevant optimization cannot be implemented, it is recommended to develop a **dedicated right-click menu exclusive to xplorer**.
It only needs to read Windows 11 system right-click parameters, or simply integrate commonly used right-click functions.
This avoids performance interference from the default Windows right-click mechanism, and delivers instant response and the best user experience for xplorer right-click operations.

Who is "we"?

And as highend stated so eloquently, tell Microsoft to address it since it's their issue.

XYplorer is a one-man shop and I feel Don has better things to do than try to fix what MS has broken.

Thanks for the reminder. I have reviewed my previous suggestions and found many errors that misrepresented my original meaning. I have carefully revised and sorted out the content, and it is now correct.

In summary:
If xplorer truly calls the native Windows 11 right-click menu and this part cannot be optimized, it is advisable to develop a **custom right-click menu exclusive for xplorer**.
It only needs to read Windows 11 system right-click parameters, or simply integrate all commonly used right-click functions.
This will completely eliminate performance restrictions from the Windows system right-click, and achieve instant response for xplorer right-click with the best possible user experience.

01. I've deleted your new post about the stuff you've been already posting here. There is no XY bug, blame MS for it^^
02. It is advisable that you report that to MS, they have to fix it!
03. If you want a "lag free" context menu, feel free to script one and use the middle click for it instead (through custom event actions)
There will not be a "hey, I've implemented everything from scratch right-click menu" coming to XY
