With these options enabled,

Previous (~ v28.30.0200): Hovering over the thumbnail selected the item; hovering over the filename did not.
(Since it has been this way until now, I think this is the intended behavior.)

Current: Hovering over the thumbnail does not select the item. It still works in Detail View or when "To the icon only" is disabled.

I haven't performed further in-depth testing because I have currently rolled back to 0200.

"To the icon only" is now interpreted literally.

Are you showing icons on the thumbnails? (Configuration | Preview | Thumbnails | Show file icon on thumbnail)

Yes. An icon is displayed under the thumbnail, and it selects when I hover over the icon.

So, does that mean I can no longer select item by hovering over them in thumbnail? In the current situation, if I move left or right using the arrow keys while in hover view, I can't select anything after that.

Then I need to completely overhaul my muscle memory.

Explaining why is itself very complicated. It has simply worked this way until now, and I have just adapted to it.

The way it works has completely changed, so it’s just a bit sad, but I guess I’ll get used to it again.

Either untick "To the icon only", or move your cursor over the icon, and everything is as before.

Don't assume that it can be implemented in a different way. I have tested it thoroughly, and it is completely different.

I am well aware that it is difficult for you to understand people who use the one-click method, so I lack the confidence to explain this in my limited English.

If you do not consider this a bug and have no intention of returning to the previous version, then that's fine.
