"When the Preview panel is open, when I click on a file such as name.rtf or name.doc in the file list, a dialog appears asking whether I want to download or open it. "
I was experiencing this problem just now on one of my PC's. It doesn't happen on the other ones, very confusing.
This dialog box has a check box on it that says 'always ask...'. I unchecked this and the dialog box stopped popping up, and XY previews doc files now without asking.

That explains it, of course. When XY promotes his "Office Preview" then MS Office is implied. You cannot expect IE to preview a rivaling product to MS Office, I guess (unless they pay a lot). OTOH, I know that OpenOffice can be previewed through IE/XY once you have certain IE plugins (ActiveX) installed. Maybe there is such thing for Softmaker Office & Star Office ...tom_os wrote:I dont have MS word installed - I have Softmaker Office & Star Office - could that be the problem - cant see it should cause the greyed out option but I wouldnt know
