White hover box

Post by Raf »

Why is the Hover Box white?

I set ALL COLORS to gray/black? How to change it?

Also I find hardcoding the Shift key to open the Hover Box a weird solution: there are problems with losing selection or selecting unnecessary elements via Shift if sticky selection is not enabled. I think the Alt key is a better choice because it does not conflict with existing ways of interacting with files

Press B while the HoverBox is showing.
Using Shift to show HoverBox is optional.

Yeah, but I want to use another optional key without file selection conflicts...

Pressing Shift does not change the selection unless you enabled "Point to select".

I don't get it.

1) Holding Shift does not affect selections.

2) If you have a problem with it simply untick Configuration | Information | File Info Tips & Hover Box | Show Hover Box | Only while the shift key is held down.

Let's say I want to use some key to show the Hover Box because 90% of the time I don't want to see it. I only see the Shift key in the settings and have it enabled, I also have highlighting enabled when hovering over a file name/icon.

When I want to see info about a file I hold shift and move mouse pointer over the file. Everything is great until I want to see info about different files. In this case, if I select one file with the pointer, hold shift and select another file, I not only get a hover box, but also a group of files is selected. Either I have to keep track of which file I selected or use another key that does not overlap with file selection....

Yes. Selection is always triggered (by pointing the name or icon)

Well, you get what you ask for. This (bizarre) feature is indeed not fully compatible with the Shift-enabled Hover Box. You gotta choose.
