Roadmap

Post by jacky »

Question: I was looking at the updated "(as of June 2008)" roadmap, and I don't see any mention of scripting 2.0 anywhere... So I get worried, and I have to ask : what does that mean about all the exciting S2.0 plans ??

Edit: Also, what happened to CTB as well ??

:) Don't worry, the roadmap is a bit outdated (I'll fix that). Finishing total UNICODE support is taking LOTs of time, but I'm almost done now. Then it's a little soccer break  , then we'll see about some nice new stuff...

i live a few km outside of Vienna but i'm working there. Unfortunately i have no tickets for any game game but i'll check out the "public viewing" (1) places for sure.

(1) in german it means a place where many many people can watch the games in public. i guess readers from the US would be confused without that explanation ;) ...

We have the same thing here on occasion (if I understand you correctly), but most times, people just go to sports bars (pubs) and watch big screen TV there if they want company.
Still spending WAY TOO much time here! But it's such a pleasure helping XY be a treasure!

that's exactly what i meant.

but a few weeks ago i learnt about the "original" meaning of that phrase in american english (according to my sources it's something like a public funeral where you can pay one's last respects to the deceased, right?)

Edit:

i found a picture from the world championships in Germany two years ago:

Let's see if it's going to be like that in Vienna too!

Ok...now I get why you thought we'd not follow your original post, but as like many other terms, it depends on what context it's used in that makes the difference...and in this case, we were talking about a sports event, so it was obvious to meaning.

Public viewing as relates to funeral would only be thought of when that event was the basis of statement, ok?

mhm, i thought it's not used in that context... in german we have many "english" words that mean completetly different things in their original language. For example:

Handy
Beamer
Oldtimer
Hometrainer
Showmaster
Smoking

You may guess what their correct english translation is ;)
