Our users have mapped drives to shared user folders that are synced with dropbox on the same machine. (weird, I know).
When creating shortcuts with the mapped drive on one machine and opening on another. the second machine tries to use the network path back to the first machines shared folder. This only happens when the shortcut is created in xyplorer, but not when creating it in windows explorer.
For instance, the shortcut has target path:
"P:\Wedgewood Enterprises, LLC for Hans Salamanca\04 - 303 Mercury, Nipomo"
Start in:
"P:\Wedgewood Enterprises, LLC for Hans Salamanca"
Opening this shortcut on a different computer, and the path it wants to take is
\\mike2021\z\Dropbox\MED\projects\Wedgewood Enterprises, LLC for Hans Salamanca"
It would seem the shortcut has hidden data in it. But, this problem as mentioned doesn't occur when shortcuts are created using windows explorer. Can someone help clarify and help solve?
Shortcuts to mapped drive are opening via network path instead

Re: Shortcuts to mapped drive are opening via network path instead
Look at the raw bytes of the shortcut. You should be able to see the UNC path if it's there. But I doubt it. Rather, some sick Windows smartness is interpreting the target of the shortcut.
