I have a ? about copy & paste. If I copy an attachment from an email to the clipboard I can't paste it in XY. Also if I try a drag & drop XY says nothing to drop. Oh and yes I know about save attachments - it's I just copy paste this way normally. Using 5.10.0030. Is it just me?

In Outlook 2003 there's a ctx menu "Copy" for attachments, though I never use it myself...

Most of the time I just open the message and select the attachment(s), right click and then copy. Previous workflow was to then jump into Explorer and paste. I just tried to do the same thing in XY.

Sometimes I'll drag and drop the attachment from Outlook to Explorer.

Since I don't have Outlook I cannot reproduce. Maybe you can help: When you open Clipboard.exe after copying an attachment, what do you see? Any interesting info about the type/format of the data in the clipboard?

Couriouser & couriouser said Alice!!
Test steps
Opened outlook message with an attachment. Copied this attachment to the clip board.
Looked at clipbrd.exe and it wasn't there.
Tried a straight text copy from my text editor - could see the text.
Looked at my clipboard histroy tool ARSCLIP, I can see that there is an object last in the list that belongs to outlook.

The clipboard formats used by Outlook/Outlook Express when copying/dragging attachments seems to be:

CFSTR_FILECONTENTS + CFSTR_FILEDESCRIPTOR

I found some samples on the internet and I have tried the vb-ones and they seems to work, not sure if this is of any help but anyway...

Sample in MFC

Sample in VB getting Outlook Express messages dropped on a form

Thanks Ulrik, I checked it out, but it's not usuable (without much trouble) for me because additional DLLs are needed to make it work.
I will offer a workaround though...

PS: looks better than I thought -- I might even make it... 8)
