Experiencing Three Quirks/Bugs(?)

First of all, Happy New Year!!

Next, a few quirks I saw while using XYplorer 11.90.0100 installer package (latest, downloaded from website). I'm running Windows 7 64-bit.

- Every so often (with folders that contain many sub-folders and lots of files), new folders (copy from another location) are not display in the directory tree but is in the pane. I have to hit F5 in directory tree to refresh. The folder contains roughly 150 sub-folders and 650 files, all small files. Entire folder structure is less than 25MB.

- The application icons (small icons on the left of file) refresh really slow in XYplorer. I went into a directory where I stored my applications, 120 files total, with folder size total 2GB, and it took 25-30 seconds before I can use the pane window in XYplorer. "Not Responding" was at the top of the application bar until all icons refresh. I tested with another folder with 30 apps, 150MB total, and same thing, it took 5-seconds total before I can go into the pane window. If I moved between these folders afterwards, then it is smooth. Some sort of graphics/caching of icons issue of such.

- I ran portable apps from my USB flash drive (PortableApps.com: Firefox, TrueCrypt, ClamWin, etc.) from XYplorer. After exiting the apps I attempted to unmount my USB but Windows reported that files are still in use, open, etc. If I exited XYplorer then I can unmount my USB. Perhaps some sort of drivers and libraries within XYplorer not unloading?

Any other users seen the above issues with this release or other releases?

After exiting the apps I attempted to unmount my USB but Windows reported that files are still in use, open, etc. If I exited XYplorer then I can unmount my USB. Perhaps some sort of drivers and libraries within XYplorer not unloading?

I know that on my XP sys, as long as I first close the tab that was pointing to the USB or switch it back to a non-USB path, I don't have this issue...not sure if this applies but it's better than closing XY.

I made certain the tab was not pointing at the USB (i.e. in use) before unmounting, the tab was on the local drive.

I know others are better at some answers than I am but re the icon delay issue: Check out and experiment with the Config>Advanced>Icons options...such as the cache and generic ones...

Maybe related - maybe not, but if you have XY configured to auto-complete path names and used the address bar to auto-complete the USB path then it's likely that XY has acquired a lock on the USB's root as well.

The easiest way to release the root lock is to auto-complete a path on a different volume.
If memory serves, you don't even have to actually complete the path just get XY to show the auto-complete list for a volume you aren't attempting to remove.

Turning off refresh is not something I prefer, but did try. Using generic icon is fine, but overall, the tips didn't help speed up XY. I'm looking forward to 12.x for improvements, etc.

Attached is the screen capture of a directory "Sysinternals" not showing up in the tree. I've hit F5 many times to refresh, but the tree doesn't display "Sysinternals" folder, the pane does. I've exited XY and go back in and the tree displays correctly.

By standard settings (unless you changed the shortcut) F5 does only refresh the list.
Use F4 to refresh the tree...and check out the other options in menu View...

Your mini tree looks grey, so it seems to be a locked mini tree. By definition it will not show a new folder. That's why you opted for a locked mini tree in the first place.

Generally, for all I know, auto-refresh works perfect.

Your mini tree looks grey, so it seems to be a locked mini tree. By definition it will not show a new folder. That's why you opted for a locked mini tree in the first place.

No, the tree is not lock, I modified the color to lessen the brightness. Auto-refresh is ON and I was hitting F5 while active in the tree window. Something to keep in mind, I don't anticipate all bug reports be correct immediately.

Ok, but actually Mini Tree alone is enough to explain it. This is how Mini Tree works. It only shows folders that you actually visited. And a refresh will not add missing folders but only remove folders that do not exists anymore.
