How to open folders in new tabs instead of the current one?

Post by tux. »

So I have a testing machine here where XYplorer is (of course) :whistle: the primary file manager. Double-clicking a folder automatically overrides the current tab. How to open a new one instead? Could not find an option for that.

Tools=>Configuration=>Startup & Exit=>enable "Open command line start path in new tab"
and maybe disable "Allow multiple instances"

Ah, this is the "command line start path". Things which are described rather blurrily...

Thanks.

From windows desktop or desktop folder inside XYplorer?
For latter, hold shift and double-click.
For former, check options in menu Tools>Configuration>Shell integration.

OK, so I guess you have already checked the option "XYplorer is default file manager".
To open a folder (from outside XY) in a new tab, check the option vsub mentioned already;
vsub wrote:Tools=>Configuration=>Startup & Exit=>enable "Open command line start path in new tab"
Is this not working??

It should - I had not checked it before I started this thread.

Or hold SHIFT. This works (i.e. will open a new tab) with all location changes within XY.

he wants to open from outside XY, so i suggested making XY default first and then have the option "Open command line start path in new tab" checked.

Yes, my post was directed to vsub and his understanding of the OP. While Middle click works, SHIFT is the more general method (my mouse e.g. has no middle click since I programmed it to be a double click).
