10.80 - Dupes - Overflow

Oh, the joy of making XY better.
So I was using the dupe option:
The file set is huge 3TB and thousands of files
While processing, XY will intermittently show "not responding".
I'm used to this: with XY it just means "wait a bit"
But not this time:
Every time after 3-5 min:
Code: Select all
Error: 6 (00000006)
Desc: Overflow
Dll: 0
Proc: doFind
Source: XYplorer
XY ver: 11.80.0000
OS: Windows 7 Ultimate (Service Pack 1), 64-bit
Date: 29/11/2012 15:11:11
XY is quite unresponsive while searching in general.
Maybe we could use a helper process or just a new thread?

What sort of Dupe search was it?

Hi Don,
Location: include subfolders.
Size: > 10 MB
Dupes:
Match:
size
& content: SHA-1
Maybe selecting a less taxing hashing algo would solve it?
I will try MD5

The culprit was this: Size: > 10 MB ! (Not the Dupes filter)

If you catch Don at the right time of day, he can be faster to find a bug than anti-virus folks do! I've seen a beta vers released in as little as 20 min from time bug was posted here!! Not saying that will happen regularily but just shows why we LOVE how dedicated to XY that Don is and why everyone should buy a lifetime license promptly!

Oh, most bugs are trivial to fix when you can reproduce them AND got the source code

That's exactly why I decided to get my lifetime license.
Longevity, development speed, support, and community = PASSION.
I love how we can take something that might seem trivial (a file manager) and make it exciting.
We got something special here.
