I love the Calculate folder size toolbar button and find it very useful. However, when I use the function on a folder, the list view does seem to autoresize.

To reproduce:
Pick a folder with at least one subfolder with a short name but also which includes files of reasonable size.
Click the Calculate Folder Size button
The folder size is filled in but the list view does not autoresize to accomodate the size column

I ummed and ahhed about whether this was a bug or wish.

It was something I did not do yet. Now I did.

The new beta looks good.

Three things:
1. When I click on a subfolder's name, the size is filled in but the column is not autosized. I love my autosize

2. I have Configuation->General->Show folder sizes in file list turned off. Should the folder's size be filled in in this case?

3. If I sort the list view by size, and then I click on some subfolder's names and theie sizes filled in, the list view does not seem to be resorted based on the sizes that now appear.

hmm.. I'm a bit confused, but since you say "When I click on a subfolder's name" I'm gonna assume you're not talking about the "Calculate Folder Size" feature (menu or TB button), but the fact that folder sizes are added to the list when you click on one while having the Properties tab on.

In such case....

1. I guess that could/should probably be fixed yeah

2. IMHO yes. The option you're referring to means to actually calculate ALL folders sizes and show them whenever you're browsing. This trick (Properties tab) just like the "Calculate" feature are distinct things, and should definately work without this option (they actually dont really "make sense" with it, as sizes would already have been calculated & shown anyway ) -- btw A/ you can disable this all thing with the "Show folder sizes on Properties tab" option, and B/ press F5 anytime to "remove" the folder sizes from the Size column

3. That's true allright (not with "Calculate" though); but I gotta say I like it like that Allows one to calculate some sizes without having its folder order affected even though the sort order is on Size. You can always use "Calculate" or do a Sort Again (Shift+Ctrl+F5) if you want to
(That said, I'd understand if Don would like to "fix" it aswell...)

No, I think an item should not move somewhere else (by being re-sorted) when you simply select it.

Yeah, I meant that I was literally clicking on the subfolder's name in the list view...

Cool. Now I understand what is going on. I must have been having a blond moment not to get it before Thnx jacky. About the F5 thing though, pressing F5 does remove the all folder sizes except for a subfolder with focus in the list view.

However, I'm finding it kind of distracting to have the list view updating itself whenever I click on a subfolder in the view. I do like to see the info on the Properties Tab. I wonder if an option for not updating the list view, while still updating the Properties Tab is possible?

While we're talking about the folder's size being calculated by clicking on it's name in the list view, why not also show the number of files as well? It's being calculated for the Properties Tab anyway. That would mean a new column of course. I dunno how useful that would be...I'm just thinking out loud.

Actually, it's not the focus but the selected that triggers this, ie if you dont have any folder selected when pressing F5 it won't happend, even if it has focus on

That's something I'd like too Actually, not that much to use it on my browsing time, but as I mentionned somewhere before because I'd love to have this info ("x files, y folders") added on reports aswell!

BTW little glitch with the Properties calculation: click on a folder, XY starts to calculate, then click on another one before the calculation was complete, XY will show the size of the first folder on the 2nd (and now seleced/focused) one!

It's already present in folder reports "Classic Dir Dump". But I could add it to "Extended info to CSV"... you mean that?

That would mean adding a "number of files/folders" column, a column that's only good for folders (and maybe only for jacky ). Well...

Yeah, I realize as a column its probably not quite usefull. But in reports it sure is (if you ask me). Maybe just an idea for later, you know when reports will have templates and all...
