ctrl-s with an existing target

Hi all,

When I use ctrl-s and nominate an existinig file, the copy does not happen. The "Background Jobs" screen shows that the copy was skipped. To reproduce:
1. Copy file.txt to file1.txt.
2. Edit file1.txt to make it different to file.txt.
3. Press ctrl-s on file.txt and enter file1.txt as the target. file.txt is not copied over file1.txt: the copy is skipped.

I couldn't find anything in the help about this behaviour. What am I missing?

Cheers
John

In your scenario file1.txt is newer than file.txt and if I test this with my Custom Copy settings it asks me whether I want to overwrite a newer file with an older one, see screenshot.

Maybe you need to check your settings in File Operations.

Hi RalphM,

You are right of course! I had it set to "overwrite if newer". Whoops!

Such an obvious answer and I didn't think to check there.

Thanks for your help.

Cheers
John
