So - Favorite Folders - Why can't we assign shortcuts?

I get the concept of "collecting/toggling" my favorite folders into a list. But what I don't get is - after I have toggled them - that's basically it. Now I have to click two or three times to expand yet another menu - to get to these favs.

Why can I not toggle a fav folder and then quickly assign a keyboard shortcut to it - so it becomes instantly useful?

I began to think about this as I stared at my keyborad recently - hoping to be able to use it's hot keys for my fav folders. I did managed to get a psuedo solution by setting up a pile of user "go-to" commands for all my fav folders - but that was time consuming and not exactly user friendly.

Or am I totally missing something here?

Cheers,

VP

PS: Just found the right click in the tree area that brings the "favs" to the forefront. Still two more clicks....:)

Why can't we assign shortcuts? Because those menu items are totally volatile. Once you sort your Favorites, or remove one from the top, all KS would point to some new folder.

Goto UDC is the way, I'm afraid.

Or add them in a catalog, if you can spare some vertical screen space from the tree.
There's a command to enter all favs in a new category there...

Or the toolbar:

Code: Select all

v10.90.0305 - 2012-04-13 21:09
+ Configuration | Extended | Custom items in shell context menu |
      Folder Tree: Added one item:
        Add Folder to Toolbar
On selection a new Droppable User Button is appended to the right
end of the Toolbar pointing to the folder.
This feature is Pro Edition Only, resp. only available if the
      Scripting feature is enabled.

This is the way I do it and works great. The catalog is one of my most favorite features!
