Some Questions from a trial user

Hi,
I'm currently using FreeCommander as my file manager but are looking for an replacement.

XYplorer looks good to me however I have some questions:
1. Catalog is really nice. But is it possible to drag an item of the catalog and past it in another application? E. g. I would use the catalog to group some images and then drag them all to Photoshop for further editing.
2. FreeCommander allowed me switching between the two panes with "TAB". Is there a way to assign this key to the command "Toggle Active Pane"?
3. FreeCommander allows me copy/move selected items to the other pane by hitting F5/F6. I haven't found a way to assign this command without opening any other windows.
4. Creating junctions is great. But is it possible to reveal the source of a junction? Or all junctions that point to a specific folder?
5. I'm using SmartFTP to browse my clients. But when dragging a folder from the FTP server (in SmartFTP) to XYplorer, only a empty folder gets created but no contents. This happend to me also in FreeCommander, but it works in other tools like SpeedCommander.
6. Is it possible to open an elevated command prompt in the active pane directory?
7. Are there any plugins for working with archives like ZIP, RAR, 7Z? Most other file managers offer builtin support for this.

Regards,
Chris

Hi Chris, welcome!

If it does not work, it is not possible imho. I know no setting to change an catalog behavior.

2. FreeCommander allowed me switching between the two panes with "TAB".

Tools > Configuration... > Dual Pane >>>>

3. FreeCommander allows me copy/move selected items to the other pane by hitting F5/F6.
I haven't found a way to assign this command without opening any other windows.
Panes \ Copy to Other Pane ( Default hotkey is Ctrl+F6)
Tools > Customize Keyboard Shortcuts > Panes >>>>

Or read > http://www.xyplorer.com/xyfc/viewtopic. ... 664#p28664

6. Is it possible to open an elevated command prompt in the active pane directory?
Interesting. I don't know.
BTW: do you know, for an normal, un-elevated prompt you can enter an ! and an !! into the address bar.

7. Are there any plugins for working with archives like ZIP, RAR, 7Z?
Most other file managers offer builtin support for this.
No plugins. Just the context menu from parallel installed archivers.
Or via an command line archiver and an script (see script forum)

For further questions, please open one thread per question. And use meaningful subjects.
That makes it easier to discuss and to be found from others.

No drag from catalog, but the other way round: You add Photoshop to the Catalog and then drag images from the file list onto that Catalog item to open them in Photoshop.

No real prob. We get only an problem if we would start discussing
about a few of your topics and all the post get mixed up over time.
So all fine as far as we are now
