Copy and Paste subfolder to same parent folder

Post by kiwichick »

Hi there,

In Windows Explorer (and other file managers I've seen) when I want to Copy and Paste a folder in the same parent folder I:

a) click the folder to select it
b) Ctrl+C to copy the folder
c) Ctrl+V to paste the copied folder

A new folder is created with the foldername appended with " - Copy".

When I do that in XYplorer I get a "the destination folder is a subfolder of the source folder" error message. In order to get a copy of the folder I have to:

a) click the folder to select it
b) Ctrl+C to copy the folder
c) click out of the folder to deselect it
d) Ctrl+V to paste the copied folder

Is this usual behaviour for XYplorer and, if so, can it be disabled?

Cheers.

Do you have Configuration > Advanced > Miscellaneous > Paste to selected list folder, enabled? If so, does disabling make any difference?

Hmm, lot of trouble with "Paste to selected list folder". Maybe it was not such a good idea to add this option in the first hand...?

Or at least in this situation (the selected folder is in the clipboard) I should make an exception and never paste to the selected list folder?

Thanks guys for your help.

nas8e9, Yes, disabling fixes the problem.!!! I'm an XYporer newbie and I really had no idea what setting to look for in the Configuration.

admin, I don't know whether adding this option was a good idea or not. I'm not sure I can even understand why anyone would want such a feature. But maybe having it disabled by default instead of enabled might help for us XYplorer virgins
