Clear Button on Find Files

Now that I am using the Info Panel

(mainly the File Search) functionality, I notice that there is no quick way to clear down the Search values.
I know there are the tick boxes but thought it might be useful to have a clear button that basically gave you a clean search (i.e. cleared ALL the atributes from the various Find Files tabs).
Unless I am missing something (I am relatively new to the Info Panel).
Thanks
Andy

True, there's no button to do this. For me, unticking unwanted filters was always enough (90% of the time I use only the name filter anyway, although a wrote all those great other filters...

).
Here's an

: Why don't you define a template with your preferred cleared-down state and call it "Reset" or so?! Okay, it's 2 clicks instead of 1, but it's far more flexible and saves space that would be used by another button.
Templates

Done
But now I'm using templates (created about 10 for various common searches), you got me thinking that there should be a quicker way to access these templates.
It would be pretty useful to have the templates available as a sub menu on the right click context menu - clicking on blank bit of file view)
Or possibly even on the go menu.

Donald,
Getting a bit paranoid that I am creating extra work for you here
Right click to access Templates is much quicker (for me anyway).
Great job !
I actually meant having a submenu in the context that listed the templates (still two clicks but marginally quicker), but it would also mean populating the list in the context menu which I assume would slow the menu down ?
Anyway like what you have done (just tell me stop posting anytime

you want).

I understood what you wanted but I did not give it to you

There are 1 checkbox and 1 radio buttons group in the templates dialog whose state would be undefined when templates were loaded via ctx menu. Therefore the dialog is needed. Or?
Or?

Very cryptic
Which check box and radio button group would be excluded ?
Just out of interest (not saying it should apply in this case have just never seen it done) is it possible to have a submenu in a context menu and still select the main item rather than one of the sub menu items ?).
Realise it kind of defeats the point of the sub menu just thinking out loud...(from a non programmers perspective).

I'm talking about "Run search at once" and "Search stored/current location". These decisions have to be made.

No, not possible with Windows-drawn menus AFAIK.
Assumptions

How about just assuming that if you are running the templates from the context menu you automatically set 'Run Search at Once' and 'Search Current Location'.
Being a bit selfish here, but I create all my templates this way as it seems more logical / useful. Sacrificing a bit of flexibility for pure selection speed seems fair (unless of course we can have both).
Can understand why you would want a template to search a specific location but it's doesn't seem to much effort to select the location if you want to use the context menu with template listing

Yes, I had that idea, too. 'Run Search at Once' okay without hesitation, but 'Search Current Location'?? I'm a bit unhappy with this radio group anyway... maybe this decision should rather be stored
with the template?... maybe the 'Run Search at Once' as well? ...
No time to think about this now... later...

I don't think "Run Search at once" should be in templates, doesn't make much sense to me. But you could add a checkbox "Save search location" on the window asking for the name of the template (when saving) instead of the radio group I guess...
Or, for thoose shortcuts, you could assume "Run Search at once" & use the "default"/last used value
AFAIC my search templates are all made to use the stored search locations. I can see why one would have templates that would be made for use with the current location, but I'm note sure if any templates would really have use for both.... So saving or not the location into the template sounds good to me.

To me too.
But the whole template interface is still lacking/confusing and needs a fundamental rethink. For example I miss some information/preview area (indeed that's a pending wish); how else could you find out about the stored location of a selected tamplate before you actually apply it?
Work for after summer...

As Summer appears to be over (you are gonna regret that - take some time !!).
Is this back on the cards ?
Noted Jacky's comments (fair play) looks like a re-think on templates.
Will just have to be patient (2 weeks, 2 months whatever).

Yes, I'm currently working on a new templates interface...
