Drag and drop Tabs

I'd like to be able to drag and drop tabs into catalogs or into the tree.
Dnd'ing onto category titles or between category items could add a shortcut to the tab without needing to back out of the folder and then dragging the folder into the container, and dnd'ing onto a category item or onto a tree item could copy/move the folder (according to keyboard modifiers like in the windows explorer) to another location.
It just feels natural.

Interesting idea.

You can drag the current folder from the tree into the catalog.

I don't think that this counts as a solution. I usually have the tree hidden because my catalogs are fairly large, so I have a command to toggle between catalog and tree, but both of them are never open at the same time.
In that respect, I'd also like to suggest the addition of the ability to have the tree and the catalog side by side, as my screen is wide enough to handle a catalog, a treeview, and two panes in one row, but not high enough to handle a usable catalog and a usable tree in one column. Should I open a new separate topic for this?

Are you aware of the options in the Catalog's context menu?
"Insert as New Category Here -> Tabs"
"Insert as New Item Here -> Current Tree Folder"
"Insert as New Item Here -> Current Tab Location"
Though if you're anything like me you'll still habitually try to drag the tabs over only to be reminded to right-click instead.

Thanks, that counts as a solution.
In Windows Explorer, when you click on the icon in the address bar, you can drag and drop a shortcut to another folder. I use this quite a lot, mostly to quickly create shortcuts to temporarily important folders on the desktop. I've tried this with XYplorer a couple of times, out of habit, and find myself a bit frustrated when this doesn't work. I think this falls into the same category as the Tab drag and drop issue. So, basically, while I can live without it since there are workarounds, this topic probably boils down to the following:
--> Make the Tabs, as well as the Icon in the Address Bar (like in Windows Explorer's Address Bar), initiators of shortcut creation drag and drop actions. This would also allow the creation of shortcuts on the desktop, as well as in the catalog and in the tree.
Does this sound reasonable?

Yes, I made a note.

Can I suggest that while dragging tabs whether within or between panes as is currently possible, or for any added capabilities, there really should be a change in the mouse pointer to indicate that a tab is being dragged. The little arrow indicating where the tab will be dropped is helpful, but for me just not sufficient.

Wow--thanks for the quick enhancement to accommodate this (beta v10.90.0108 - 2012-03-19 19:37). May I suggest a small change, if it's not hard to do--that is to use the cross pointer instead of the left-right pointer. Benefits:
1) easier to see
2) more logical if moving tabs up and down between horz panes (or if dropping tabs on catalog, folders, etc. if this is ever implemented in future)
3) avoid possible confusion with column resizing pointer
In any case, thanks!

Yes, probably better, will change.
