XYplorer Beta Club

Hi,

I'm trying the XYPlorer. I thought that XYPlorer is very good, but it is very strangely,
I can not drag the mouse in the XYPlorer on my machine(Windows XP,SP3),
as soon as I drag the mouse, The XYPlorer would crash. I have tried the newest
Beta version, the problem still.

The Windows Application error message is:
Application has failed to complete a COM/RPC call because of an invalid message from server.

Try to reboot Windows.

I have restarted N times, the problem is still the same.

Please describe how you drag. Right or left mouse, from where to where, dragging what.

1. As long as the mouse button is pressed, drag a file or a directory, regardless of where to drag,
XYPlorer will crash.
2. When I drag a file or a directory from Explorer to XYPlorer, the mouse appears as a prohibited icon.
It Seems that XYPlorer doesn't support the OLE drag and drop operations?
3. It seems that the XYPlorer was develped with VB6, You may use the API function SetUnhandledExceptionFilter
to handle the Win32 exception.

@shalongbus: What is the make and driver (including version) of your mouse?

Not directly related to issue at hand but when you're saying you are "trying XY" in Feb 2012 and having an issue like this -and- you previously posted in Jul 2010 about another issue, I wonder just a bit what happened in meantime...

Because it's thus clear that XY worked on your system at one point (and for how long?) so given the oddity of current issue, it seems highly likely that it's not XY that is at fault but something on your system that is affecting XY now.

I tried other file manager such as: MDIE, CubicExplorer, UltraExplorer, the Explorer+ +, Xploerer2, they do not have this problem. Obviously, XYPlorer is the problem.

We've got dozens of XY users here on XP SR3 and they aren't reporting any issues and D&D works just fine for them (and me) so you can't make that claim...sorry.

I'm not saying that XY can't have an issue but since it seems to be unique to you, that really tends to put the cause as something special about your setup which may only affect XY.

I am a software developer, and also very familiar to VB6, if you need, I can help you to debug.

Version 10.3 does not have this problem, I do not have version 10.4~10.7, I am not sure which version is a problem.

I assume you are using the latest version:
if yes, could you copy xyplorer.exe to a new folder and reproduce this problem?
if not, could you download the latest version and report back?

1. I tried to place the XYPlorer.exe to other folder, or directly into a root disk, there is still the same problem.
2. I downloaded and tried the latest version of 10.80.0316, the problem is still the same.

Since you are the only one having this problem a natural question would be: What could be different in your system from all other systems?

Debug should be very simple, You can add line numbers in the MouseMove event and error handling,
use SetUnhandledExceptionFilter to setup the unhandled Win32 exception, and raise a new VB exception
in the new Win32 exception Handler, so that you can know the line number of wrong code.
