Hi noob here.

:D I got the software from "Giveaway of the day". I had already tried a version out previously and knew I needed this program. Unfortunately recent poor heart health and tight finances have prevented me from purchasing this program. I posted a very positive review on CNET for the program. I have used Directory Opus on the Amiga, the PC but found it too expensive. I have used Powerdesk versions 4, 5,6 and 7. Tried bloatware 8 but it was slow and cumbersome. XYplorer is lean and mean and is so configurable, and I can even use it on my fastest or slowest computer without being accused of license violations (yes I mean you Powerdesk). One day I will buy a lifetime license as this is the file-manager I wanted. I also have a copy of xplorer2 which I like too. You can never have too many toys. I have downloaded the PDF instructions and look forward to learning as much as I can on how to configure everything. I am really impressed with the "useability" of XYplorer with mp3 files and photo files. I know the version I have cannot be upgraded but I an spreading the word to everyone.

Hi!
Same here, also got the software from GiveawayOfTheDay, through a tip on the REboot.pro forum. I was amazed that a great program like this was "up for grabs!"

I really, REALLY!!! love XYplorer, almost as much as I hate, really HATE!! the new Windows 7 Explorer. Just a shame that microsoft insists on trying to keep us away from our own files (at least, that's how I see it). Hide files here, force the use of libaries or strange constructs there, etc. But who am I telling, everybody here knows exactly what I'm talking about...
XY gives the power back to the user! I will also tell everyone and their mother about this amazing piece of craftsmanship (that's XYplorer, not the other one).

I was under the impression that the GiveAway version came without support, so I was hesitant about posting on this (very informative!) forum, but from the reactions in this thread, I take it that "forum use" is allowed for us poor folk?

Hi and welcome to the XY forums!

Yes, that's one way to help repay Don for the GOTD by passing the word...

No support means that Don won't respond to emails from GOTD users but feel free to use the forum! We've had a number of new users via that promotion...and...Don has replied to some threads as well...but no guarantee he will.

Just as long as you identify yourself (via signature line or such) that it's a GOTD so we won't ask you to do something you can't...like update to newest beta...you can always try one, but that will be via the std 30-day trial period.

Thanks! I don't want to steal this thread, but one question comes to mind:

- If I install the latest beta version, is that always a 30-day version? With beta version being released almost daily, couln't that party go on "forever"?

Hi and welcome!

The INI file (which remains intact when you install a new BETA) contains info about how many days you are trialing. So the countdown is continuing counting down. Of course, it takes not that many brain cells to outsmart this scheme, so ultimately I trust my users. Up to now I have not been disappointed. :)

OK, I understand. Thanks for your quick reply (Oh great one... I'm not worthy!)

This forum and its users are just as amazing as the software they support. Nice to see brilliance still exists...
