And you saved your settings afterwards (or automatic settings save is enabled in the config)?

I think it means greyed out.

yep...is grey not blank!
first step: open XY, from toolbar - customize toolbar - add - home button
now home button is grey (empty)
from right key "set home" and choose folder for HOME
ok now the button is orange! (full button)
but....now close XY (on config is check "save setting on exit"), re-open XY and the home button is grey (empty)!!!
now i have explained it well ??

It is always greyed out when the current tab has no home so check if the current tab has a home. If not, assign one to it and the button turns orange again.

i wish to remain assigned! open, close XY and home button locked! this is not possible?

The only reason that I know of why your home button is not 'sticking' is that your settings are not getting saved on exit.
Because you're saying the exact same tab that had a home set loses it after exit and restart, right?

I DID read what you wrote -- but you didn't get what I said -- that for some reason yet unexplained, the save is NOT happening...because if settings are truely saved, your home setting should be retained.
So to prove it's been saved, with XY closed, using Notepad or such, go to the appropriate pane.ini file within the Panes folder and look for the Tabs section and see what the "H#" values are (where # is tab #)..if the folder isn't there, then the settings weren't saved.

ahhh why this?? i go in pane.ini and this file is saved correctly when i close XY....
mmm now i go on my config (F9) in my XY-startup&exit and i see check "save setting on exit" .... but from "apply to" is not check tabs and tabset !!! this is the problem! (my problem!!)

So you did find that you were only saving SOME of your settings and not the ones that matter in this case...I knew something was wrong but wasn't able to know what exactly.

ok now is solved but... the home button is connected to tab...
every tab has your possible home
if i want one button absolute for home...i must add from toolbar a new user button, right? or are there alternatives?
in the case of a new user button, after add, click on edit, but on click edit a script...what is the script for click on button and go to my absolute home folder ?
with this trick on each tab if click on my button i go into my home folder!
thanks in advance

Not sure if I fully understood you (as English appears to be not be your native language, right?) but each and every tab has its own private "Home" location (and if there isn't one defined for that tab, then that location is empty/blank)...there is NO common "Home" value possible with the standard Home toolbar button.
Yes, you could define a custom toolbar button for a standard/common button...but since I so rarely do this, I'm a bit rusty on how

so will defer to others as to exactly what you need.
