I like the "Toggle Info Panel (F12)" button/icon and the fact the associated keyboard to invoke is provided! Nice touch!

Yes, I found that a number of users either never knew of the existance of the Info Panel (!), or if they managed to (accidentally) open it never found out how to close it. This button will hopefully decrease that number.

It might just be because it's new, but the placement feels awkward to me.
My immediate impression is that it should be at either the left/right-most edge of the bar - though there is some sense in declaring the background job icon as not part of the status bar since it has ties to the external XYCopy.
Or maybe it's because the icon stands out too much when a more subtle one would likely be just as effective?
Sorry I can't pinpoint my feelings better - there's just
something off about it right now.

I did notice 'it' as it did
slap me in the face, which for me was a good thing. Perhaps an ability to not display it in the configuration, but it is on by default?

Well, I didn't mean make it configurable - though I think a case could be made that if the user enables "Click on status bar toggles info panel" it could be hidden.
I was really thinking that perhaps just an arrow without the bright blue attention-grabbing box would work just as well?

You'll get used to it...

Maybe...
Care to at least comment on why you chose placing it to the left of background jobs instead of right?

Did it intuitively. Maybe because Background Jobs has always been at the right end and thus has older rights to this position?

Just changed it to the right position, and voila, it looks better indeed! Check out next beta...

Better, but something still feels off to me. Now I'm thinking it might be the contrast of the green circle vs. blue rectangle, or the larger progress rectangle vs. this smaller one.
Not really sure... we'll see if giving it some time helps, at least that gives someone else the opportunity to express their opinion (hopefully more concrete than I've been able).

I've gotten QUITE behind on beta vers lately so wanted to see what this was all about...updated my test vers from 10.20.0005 to 10.70.0203 and didn't see this button anywhere so went looking for why not.
Found that there was a Windows>Show Status Bar Buttons that wasn't set on...ok...so if that happened to to me, what about others? Is that being set=on the initial default for new installs and I'd just turned it off way back when? Might be something that thus doesn't help the folks who need it.

It's on by default.

I think my issue might be entirely with the blue rectangle.
I find this more agreeable:

And with just the arrow I think it would even look okay on the left-side of the background jobs.

Why not step back for a moment, take a deep breath, and go for a walk on the beach (I hope there is one in reach, else there would be a more urgent plan for you), or depending on your climate zone, dive into the waves! Then out there, in a tight clinch with mother nature, re-evaluate the importance of the design of the Toggle Info Panel icon.

It's TOO cold even here in FL to do that today! We had a freeze last nite so....
Anyway, I think having the blue rectangle makes it more visible so prefer that but as someone who's been a bit out of loop for a long while on a related item: Just exactly how does a white checkmark on a green circle translate into "background jobs" queue? I don't quite see any connection between the icon and function...what am I missing?
