Can anyone explain what these mean ?

RecLocMenuMax=0

FavFilesDirectOpen=0
ListShowMessageOnEmpty=1

Also
BackupSkipVerificationOnHDs=1

SkipVerificationOnHDs=1

I see this is for copy. Why special for HD. Is this HD vs. USB ??

RecLocMenuMax=0
Something to do with the number of 'Recent Locations' that will be retained? 0 == unlimited??? Just guessing

EDIT: Yes, changed .ini to RecLocMenuMax=5 and the 'Recent Locations' list is now truncated to 5.

NOTE: you have to edit the .ini file when XYplorer is closed. Changing it while XY is open doesn't work, because it seems that it gets over-written each time XY is closed.

FavFilesDirectOpen=0
Well, as per page 27 of the XYplorerHelp file,
Open favorite files directly
Tick it to directly open files by selecting them from the Favorite Files menu. Portable
File Associations are honored.
Tip: The toolbar button's tooltip reflects the current setting.
But is this as opposed to 'indirectly' opening them...? Sorry, don't know.

Ok, did a bit of testing. If this is set to 1 then the fav file button will *open* the selected fav file e.g. in Notepad, if it's a text file. If it is set to 0, it just displays the file entry in its directory.

Unless someone else knows straight-up, I guess you're in for a bit of searching through the Config setup and .ini file, then changing values and seeing what happens!

EDIT: ListShowMessageOnEmpty=1 causes a message to that effect if you click on an empty folder in the tree. Changing it to 0 simply causes an empty tab/pane to be displayed.

Good luck.

As for getting to know XYplorer's settings, I'm not sure you're taking the easy road... :)

The settings in XYplorer.ini fall into two groups: settable through the interface (mainly Tools > Configuration) and tweaks, which are denoted by the comment line directly above it. The settings you enquired about are all available through the interface, with the advantage of UI context and access to XYplorer's help.

Tweaks are a different kettle of fish, with unfortunately not very much documentation other than the comment line directly above it.

The best documention on tweaks is in the change log (History.txt) which is available through the License Lounge.
