When I drag-and-drop an attached file from an email message in Thunderbird 1.5.0.2 to an Explorer window, the file is correctly placed in the directory shown, even if the file already exists there. (And if it exists, of course, I am prompted as to whether or not to allow an overwrite.)

When I do the same with XYplorer 4.60.0031, whether or not the file already exists in the folder being dragged to, I get this error:

Cannot copy file: Cannot read from the source file or disk.

Also strange and annoying is the fact that the file being dragged gets extracted to the root directory of C: in this case.

Just FYI ... I'm not trying to be a pain in the ass ... This still happens with 5.00.0020.

Oh I know this error message, I see it quite often actually.

For me it usualy happens when I copy some files around (meaning: some file operation is in progress) and I drag some mp3 files to the winamp or it's playlist. But also not all the time (especially after it appeared once). The drag&drop reaches winamp though.

Anothe peculiar thing while we're at it.
Let's say I'm copying a folder named "Something big", and drag&drop "Someband - Somealbum" (a folder) onto winamp, I often see a message like:
This folder already contains a folder named "Something big". [the usual error message you get for moving a folder to some place where a folder with the same name already exists]

But I didn't touch the "Something big" folders, I only dragged the mp3 folder onto winamp (which starts to play instantly, btw...)
I don't know what happens if I say yes, yes to all or no, I mostly hit cancel. I don't think that anything happens, but I don't know for sure. This message also only appears once.

Hm, I never see this message. I don't have Thunderbird, but I have WinAmp: can you describe a sure way to generate the message?

well for me what always works is this:
move a big file (or files) to some location, while that is going on just drag&drop a few MP3s onto an already running WinAmp. This only works once for every file operation I think thoug. So for every try you need to start the move again (I usualy copy from a network drive, not sure if that makes any difference though)
This is for the replacement message though, I can only recall that I've seen the message pissant described like that as well, though it's been some time. Maybe it doesn't occur this way anymore due to soeme code change. But you should at least be able to reproduce the one I described.

nope, don't have thunderbird either...
I can try to mak a small video for you later, but now I need to leave for uni

In the meantime i did some internal code improvements in that area that *might* clear the case... wait for the next upload.

I, too, could reproduce the drag/drop error with Thunderbird. Your latest version (5.00.0021) seems to have fixed it...for me, anyway. Good job!

It's not fixed here, and I'm running 5.00.0021. What actually happens is that sometimes, the drag-and-drop works fine, but usually, the same error I pointed out before occurs. I can't tell why the error occurs some times, but not others.

If I had tested it just one time after installing 5.00.0021, I might have come back and declared it fixed, too.

I'm really sorry to say this, but (having seen that you tried addressing the issue again) I tried 5.00.0023, and the problem is still very much there. I'm just mentioning this as an FYI, not to "be on your ass" or anything even remotely like that.

I'm not sure what that means. I used to use PocoMail, and had plenty of problems with that thing. Support absolutely sucked, too, and bug fixes were about as easy to obtain as ten winning lottery tickets in a row.
