If the View|Layout is set to Address Bar; Toolbar + Tabs, the insertion point icon shows up in the wrong spot. It acts like my layout is set to Address Bar; Tabs + Toolbar.

EDIT: machine running smoothly again (I removed the anouncement); therapy: mainboard swap. Here's my golden tip of the day: buy a duplicate of your mainboard at ebay and store it in a safe place. It can spare you a LOT of trouble.
