OK. To check if it is related to icon retrieval (a usual suspect) you can use the new "Apply to all controls" (generic icons) option and see whether it's faster then.grindax wrote:I'll try with the portable version of 10.10.0000 when I'm back home and get a chance. But this issue I first noticed about a week ago, so I don't think it's something that's just been introduced.admin wrote:Could it be that this is since yesterday? Could you recheck with the last official version (10.10.0000)?
Can't confirm with 10.10.0100 on Windows 7 x64 SP1 and the full version of IE9-Windows7-x64-enu.exe: both my regular as well as a clean profile don't show this problem.grindax wrote:I've done some more testing.admin wrote:OK. With v10.00 (as 10.10.0000 is not available in the Freezer), the problem is exactly the same as in the latest versions I've been using, including v10.10.0100.
Using v10.10.0100, I've now enabled generic icons, including for "all controls". So now I'm not seeing any pretty icons on any files. However, the exact same problem still persists. When I select either of these IE9 executables in the list, I can hear the hard drive reading the full contents of the files before XYplorer becomes responsive again. So it looks like we can rule out icon retrieval.
OK: your finding is since at least 10.00, XYplorer needs to read the entire file for some .exe's but not others, when displaying it in the List?grindax wrote:Are you testing with the files on a local hard drive, where they're probably getting read in full in 1 second? I'm experiencing this on a network drive (USB hard drive attached to router), where transferring the files takes about 10 seconds. Thus I'm able to tell that XYplorer is transferring the full file each time I select one.nas8e9 wrote:Can't confirm with 10.10.0100 on Windows 7 x64 SP1 and the full version of IE9-Windows7-x64-enu.exe: both my regular as well as a clean profile don't show this problem.
Try to turn off file info tips. Does it make a difference?grindax wrote:No, I've just tried a few different view settings and it makes no difference.nas8e9 wrote:Does it make any difference what View the List is in (Details, Details with Thumbnails, List, etc.)?
Yes, in a folder full of installation packages for various different programs, many/most of them have digital signatures, but it seems only these 2 IE files have the problem.nas8e9 wrote:Do the .exe's that don't show this problem, have a digital signature (as the IE setup programs do)?
