Would like to be able to set the time stamp to a date/time I specify. Right now I am limited to current time.

XY's method of handling changing timestamps is a bit different...the best way to explain it is this "video" http://www.xyplorer.com/videos/vid003.htm which is from a older vers but still shows the way it's done.

There really is a problem with multiple selection!

If nothing is selected and I make a multiple selection (by ctrl-a or drawing with mouse) nothing is shown in info pane.
On multiple file select when a file is selected before (and properties are shown) these properties will continue to be shown - no multiple selection.
Selecting multiple files by multiple ctrl-click only shows properties of the very last clicked file.

So it seems to be impossible to change attributes of multiple selection.

It works. One file has to be selected+focused. Then all selected files will get the (updated) attributes/time stamp of this file.

Ah - after reading this and then re-viewing the video J_C referred to I see what I remembered wrong. Wrong, as I expected that the multi-selection itself would show in the header of the properties pane. (And isn't this a legitimate expectation?)
So for me the question is, what's less irritating in this situation: show that you have a multi-selection, or show the name of the file being used as the default for the attribs to set?

Next: if in a multi-selection some files are "Read-only" and/or some are "Hidden" and/or "System", but I want to set all to "Archive", I have a problem: after that all will be same (as the default-file) for "Read-only, Hidden and System". Windows-attributes (right-click/Eigenschaften) for multi-selections show a square symbol ("neither selected nor deselected") for each attribute having different values on different files, and doesn't change it as long as I don't touch it.

If having this function, for a multi-selection you could show "summary-attributes" instead of using attributes of some default-file - and need not show the name of that default, but could show the "<Applies to all ## selected items>".
And no one (that's me ) had to guess why he sees no attributes for a multi-selection, if he misses to select any file first...

OK: I didn't respect the need for initial/default values for Created/Modified/Accessed. But I think it would be fine to use the value for "Now" here? It only applies if touched - and then "Now" isn't so very bad?

Yes, true and makes sense. But no time for this now. A better interface (with a separate window like batch rename) for this is planned since long.
