List Management, select another list

Having opened List Management with, for example, Favourite Folders if I want to edit another list (Favourite Files for example) I have to close and re-open List Management. Could there be a way in the list management window to select a different list? A drop down menu with the different lists for example.

That's definitely one of those "duh..why didn't I think of that

" type requests! Given that I have no idea what's easy to code and what's a PITA, I'd also suggest as alternative some sort of a tabbed approach vs the drop down list, maybe?
But I can see the validity of this request, for sure.

Yes, good idea.
Rather than a sub-menu to List Management. List Management opens a window with tabs for each type of list to manage. I like that idea - let's see what Donald thinks of it.

And as I stated in another thread, being able to (as minimum) cut/paste a single (or better yet, multiple) entry from one list to another would then be much easier...

Before you get too excited: no, it is "technically not possible". (Well, of course it would be, but then I would have to rewrite the whole list management -- no, thanks!)
I also don't feel the need to move/copy items between different lists. Can you make me feel it?

Not sure what keystroke I missed the first time around, but I tried again...and it worked...I was able to EDIT an history entry, cut via Ctl-C, go to Favorite Folders, select New, delete "New", paste via Ctl-V and save...that sequence, though a bit long, will satisfy my need for now to copy entry from one list to another...having "Copy"/"Paste" buttons on LM would make it a bit easier...but given that there's a way to do it, I'll defer.
Too bad the LM wasn't originally coded as a tab style...that would have avoided recoding to make it simpler to use...

I never expected users to manage one list after the other. I mean, it's a file manager, not a list manager

Well, then atleast something like clear all lists, sort all lists could suffice for now.

Personally, I can't see when I'd want to clear all lists...and sorting all may be useful, but some lists I like in other sequences, so if I had a choice, I'd much rather have a Copy/Paste ability...so I could more easily move a long entry from one list to another..

Oh yes... clearing all lists would not be very smart thing to do except if someone else has been using your computer and you dont need his settings or vic-versa. Anyway, sorting all is quite useful for me.

Revisiting this topic...with another alternative idea...
When I'm on a "List Mgmt" selection, like "Fav Folders", could there be "Prev"/"Next" buttons to move to desired list, such as "Addr Bar"/"Fav files" in this case? And in this case, maybe looping at ends would be ok.
Because...when I click wrong entry from dropdown, I have to Cancel and reselect which is a bit longer to do...plus, being able to quickly review the various lists would be kinda nice, I think.
BTW, since I'm a touchpad user, I don't use many keyboard shortcuts, so having buttons is better for my style of user.

Just bumping this to say that having tabs (or w/e you'd like best

) to change the list we're editing from within LM would be really cool. Not necessary because we wanna cut/copy/paste between list, but simply because I sometime wanna "clean" all my rename lists, etc and having to Tool/LM/list every time is a bit annoying.
Plus, as j_c_hallgren mentionned, when you accidentaly missed the one you were aiming for....
Side note: I noticed the new "Help" button. Do you know it's also shown for "Find Files: Name" and only says "64" then ?
Not really helpfull I'd say

, an 64 ain't even a magic number

I do hate to say this

, but the inability to move from one LM entry to another is the one thing that causes me the most irritation about XY at this time..
Because for some odd reason, I sometimes select the wrong list, and then have to re-select LM and try again...
And as said before, there are times I'd just like to skim thru my lists and see what I have, so having Next/Prev buttons (or similar) would be VERY helpful...
