large pause when opening a folder with 'Sort folders apart'

Whenever I open a rather full folder that has a mix of files and sub-folders, there is a pretty long pause as, I suppose, the program sorts the folders to the top of the list. I dont know if this should be considered a bug or just the fact that I have too darned many files/folders.
What do you think? I dont know if there is actually a way to speed up that processing or not.

No such pause here. How full is "rather full"?

There are a total of 995 items in the folder......351 of them are folders. It is not a huge pause, and I figure that it is just a result of the number of items that I have in the parent folder.

When you say "open a rather full folder", is the folder then expanded in the tree? This takes time when the 351 folders are quite big and do not have subfolders themselves. You can speed this up by unticking
Configuration | General | Check existence of subfolders in tree.
