Drop "Go to from Here"?

Since we have an address bar, does anybody need this feature anymore??

I use it because it doesn't add my entry to the history list. See my post
http://www.xyplorer.com/forum/viewtopic ... highlight=
However, I can work without it if you really want to remove it. It means I will sometimes have a history list of full of items I won't use again.

..plus not everyone uses the address bar ;)

What would be sweet though, I think, either for "Go to", "Go to from here" or both (preferably both) would be to be able to enter relative path that XY would process from the current dir (obviously).

ie. when in D:\Folder we could specidy .. to go back to D:\, or when there type folder to go in D:\Folder

Ok...so now as someone who hasn't used this feature more than a couple of times..when I'm in a particular folder and I use "Go to from here", the destination is prefilled with the current location, right?
So to go to a sub-folder of that one, as given in example, I presently just use right-arrow and begin typing my desired value...so how would that differ in "jacky's world"? I'm just a tiny bit confused...
And to up the tree, yes, I have to either backspace over current folder or retype it...so how would that be handled?

I can see a use in "Go to from Here..." where the current path is displayed, not sure if it would work in "Go to..." since the displayed path could be anything, and it might be more confusing than helpful. Should it use the current directory as the base (as you suggest) or use the displayed directory as base (which might be more useful)??

What (as I understand) jacky is saying is if the current directory is "D:\Folder" then simply typing "..", followed by Enter, would move to "D:". Likewise, if the current directory is "D:", typing "Folder" would move to "D:\Folder". Just saves a little bit of editing of the line.

So somebody is really navigating by typing folder names? That's so DOS!

Anyway, I see: demand is there. And for 2 reasons:
(a) navigate by typing. Here I think it would be better *not* to preselect the item but place the cursor (caret) to the end of the text, okay?
(b) pass by the history (for which use the command is ill-named, well...)

I can see where that might help in the examples given...one could then immediately start typing the sub-folder name or use the backspace to "go back up" the path....

lol Well yeah it's DOS, or if you're using Linux (or any *nix system actually) you'll work that way too ;)
And in XY I mostly uses the tree & favs, but sometimes I'd just wanna change dir and go "..\.." or something, which I think is easier/quicker then having the full path and having to remove the dir's names (esp. when they're long ones)
And typing "D:\Folder\SubFold\..\OtherFold" wont work so....

If I'm correct Go to & Go to from here are exactly the same thing, except that for the last one the current path is set as default. I would think that this is a bit redundant.
Why not having "Go to" to start with the current path set as default and seleted (like go to from here now); and go to from here works like DOS ;) aka send what we've typed to ChDir :?:

OK, I promise: if I do it I'll call it ChDir!
