Start up failure on recent betas

Hi all,

I trust you all have had a Merry Christmas!

The recent betas of XY will not start up for me. I get this message in the "xyerrorlog-<date>.txt":
Main: 339 - Component 'wmp.dll' or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid
Please don't tell me that I need to have media player for XY to work!

Cheers
John

Wow, this comes quite unexpected. And it looks like the end of the WMP experiment. All my attempts to load WMP dynamically (as I successfully do it with the web browser for HTML preview) have failed up to now. So, yes, you currently need to have media player for XY to work. I had thought it would not be possible not to have WMP. You proved the opposite.

So I have to remove WMP. Pity! At least this solves the problem in the other thread.

Update: I want to preserve WMP and I'm working on it. It's almost done, but there is a last stubborn problem that drives me nuts...: the dynamically embedded player does not keep the size I set it to but auto-adjusts to the video size on every interaction (play, pause, stop)...

I just ran into this exact problem.

I run XY portably on the Windows based web servers I maintain and they don't have WMP installed by default. Would it not be possible to just load XY with a message saying "this bit of functionality is temporarily disabled since you don't have WMP installed"? Silently failing and not running just doesn't seem like a very nice way to go...

Not possible for reasons to complex to explain within my current time frame. :)

Whatever, the current v9.80.0127 will not have this problem anymore.
