Is there a setting that allows the file locations in search results to be directly accessed without having to go to or open another tab? I see that the file itself can be opened, assuming it does, but I'm not seeing a way to get to its folder location. Are the search results sort of in a separate domain from regular tabs? I'm using v9.60.0010.

Yes. Go to menu Configuration>Find files and change the "Show search results in:" to "Current tab". Does that help?

No, no effect. That just changes where the results end up, not clickability of the folders.

Yes, but you can double-click on the searched folders and you won't go to another tab but you folder will open in the same tab.
OK, maybe i did not understand you completely then. Where exactly do you want the folders to open?

The special "Search results" tab is a subset of various items (folders/files) so by its nature cannot be opened in same tab...another tab is required to view the result in context.

The search result folder listings here don't respond to any amount of clicking; only the files themselves do (they open). So it's not possible (so it seems) to go to the file's folder directly. That is irrespective of which tab is chosen: locked, new or same.

Can't confirm with 9.60.0010: with Configuration > Find Files > Show search results in: Current tab, when searching for *.* and double-clicking on a folder in the resulting list displays that folder in the same tab. I haven't tested other settings.

Compare the following two C: drive searches for the difference between ours, at least from this end. In the *.* search the top of the list includes the folders under Name, so you can click on those to get to the file. But further down that list (not showing) it's like my "menu.ini" search, i.e., the Name field includes the files themselves. In either case here, clicking on the left column Path list gets me nowhere.

Sounds strange. What happens when you right-click on one of the folders? Do you get menu like "Go to focused item"?

If I understand you correctly, you're assuming that a single "line", constituting a single item, has several parts which act differently when double-clicked? AFAIK double-clicking a single line will open the *item*, regardless of which part of the line you click. That is, double-clicking the path part of a line referring to a file isn't special cased: it will be the same as pressing Enter.

There are two ways to enter the folder of a selected file in a list of search results: either by pressing Ctrl+Alt+Left arrow key or by right-clicking the file and selecting Go to Focused Item in the context menu.

Given results and several fields (columns), nothing highlights except the contents of the Name field, which opens either folder or file. Folders are fine. The problem is the latter, i.e., when it's a file as in the first screenshot. That opens as it should, rather than taking me to its folder location. Your keyboard/mouse suggestions assume the Path field is highlighting, which it's not here. Obviously, it's impossible to Cntl-Alt-Left arrow (or left button) on a non-highlighted field and right-clicking on any item in the results brings up an entirely different menu (Windows?):

Are you right-clicking while cursor is on the Name field (or Name is the selected field)? Because the context menu differs depending on which field you're on...

Voila! Now I see what threw me off. In WinExpl and XYplorer the Name field is typically on the left, thus the habit of clicking on it in one way or another. But in XYplorer's search results the Path field is on the left (default?). There must be a way to change what fields show and where in search results, but I'm not finding it. Pointer? The fields showing are based on View>Columns and you can drag/drop the cols to change the order (can't recall how to do so by keyboard)..

Glad we were able to resolve your issue!

I saw that in View but not an ordering choice except some defaults. The order doesn't appear to be global judging from the search results vs. normal panes, but then why is the Path field on the left (it's the last in the View > Columns list). Perhaps that's the developer's choice. Admin?
