"Location currently not ava~" to not skip nonexistent folder

If I have a folder, say:
currently unavailable, BEING ITS 2nd level parent folder also unavailable (ADMIN, in case), when I say "Beam me up, Scotty!" (by double clicking it) I am teleported to C:\Temp if available or C:, if Temp does not exist.
BUT if I go to the other pane and navigate to, for instance, and go back again to the currently unavailable folder and double click it, it jumps me to... C:\Documents and Settings\!
I don't believe this is a bug rather than an inconsistent design, so I filled this as a "wish"... the wish to be jumped into the nearly available location despite anything else being broken along the way.
Thanks!
