New items not showing w/o Refresh

In the past half hour I've seen the same thing twice, so it seems worth mentioning. I have XYplorer 9.40.0007, XP/SP3, with drive/folder menu tree down the left column and the main column with the list folders/files of whatever drive or folder I've highlighted. The two odd occurrences are as follows:
1) I put a CD in the DVD/CD drive and a couple of minutes later open XYplorer. The CD doesn't show as in the drive. Takes a Tree and List refresh (the circular blue arrow) to get it to show.
2) I install a program, creating a new folder for it under Program Files. A few minutes later I open XYplorer and the folder is not there. I do the same refresh and nothing changes. Try it again, same thing. Then I highlight Program Files specifically and refresh again. This time the folder finally shows.
Perhaps there is a setting(s) I've missed that's causing this, but it sure seems odd behavior for a program of this type.

Me too. Despite recent changes mentioned
here
Code: Select all
v9.30.0016 - 2010-07-26 19:52
! Tree: Improved the automatic refresh of the Tree pane for non-
current folders. Now all nodes (incl. special paths) should be
updated correctly, directly and smoothly, including all folder
related data like highlights, tags, favorites, thumbnail caches
etc. -- even if those nodes are not shown currently in the tree!
As long as XY is running then every change to the file system by
any other app should be auto-adjusted to in XYplorer's various
path related data. That's the goal and we are quite near.
and recently discussed in
this topic, something is still broken.
WinRAR was being correctly monitored but it seems to be not (sorry guys, no time to check versions now...) anymore, and I've noticed the same occurring with Portable Apps' installers (probably the same technology used by RARlabs...).
Developer
appears to have a hint on how to deal with that, but... now he's off for a well-earned vacation (but still producing, as we can see...)!
So... let's wait and see what happens!

Thanks for the references. Note that I opened XYplorer minutes *after* the folder or drive had been changed; i.e., it's as if XYplorer is holding the previous picture until forced not to in a very specific way. Obviously, they haven't quite succeeded yet with refresh.
My recollection with Windows Explorer (XP) is that with few exceptions it instantly picked up any change to any drive, folder or file no matter where it came from. That's what I was expecting with XYplorer. I wondered if there's some OS obstacle to that, but the comment about PowerDesk 4 suggests not.

Another variation of this yesterday. I attached a flash drive and it was recognized in the tree, but a good couple of minutes later when I invoked dual pane, the flash drive's drive letter showed above the new pane but nothing was listed under it, just "location currently not available." My guess is that it was just putting up the last dual pane from the previous XYplorer session. Took a click on the drive letter in the tree to get the files/folders to show. Even then, there was a red question mark on the drive letter in the tree and above the pane.
After writing the above, I plugged in a flash drive, clicked on its drive letter in the tree, which showed its contents in the main pane. Then I arrowed back to the previous listing, clicked on dual pane and again the new pane is empty, "location currently not available" and the red question marks. I had to focus on the new pane and hit the refresh arrow to get it to recognize the contents there.
My goal in doing the latter was to see where the focus is when dual pane is clicked. Apparently, it stays with the already open pane. That apparently is a big part of the problem I'm encountering. There are two issues: 1) getting the newly opened pane to recognize the contents, regardless of the focus; and 2) I would suggest making focus with a new pane configuration choice. I would hope those could be handled independently; i.e., switching focus to the new pane doesn't become the de facto solution for the contents issue.
