Windows 7 x64 + Preview Formats = HANG

Under Win 7 x64, in Preview Formats section, whenever I click anywhere in Preview Formats file types (top, not the bottom with extensions) on the right, it will just freeze and CPU load 50%, I had to end task it. I can't disable the file types in Preview Formats.

Hi,

you are the second user who reports this. The big question is: why do other users under Win7/64 do not have that problem? Any idea what could be special about your system/configuration?

figured out and fixed it by changing "Language for non-Unicode programs" in control panel back to English
If it is set to other languages instead of English will cause Xyplorer to freeze. hope this helps you to fix the problem.

Aha, interesting! No idea how this could cause a hang though. :?

Tell me please, what is the effect/use of this setting other than making XY hang at one point?

From Windows Help:
The system locale determines the default character set (letters, symbols, and numbers) and font used to enter and display information in programs that don't use Unicode. This allows non-Unicode programs to run on your computer using the specified language. You might need to change the default system locale when you install additional display languages on your computer. Selecting a different language for the system locale doesn't affect the language in menus and dialog boxes for Windows or other programs that do use Unicode.
For what it's worth, my setting for Current Language for non-Unicode programs is set to Dutch without giving the hang discussed here.

@blah68: What was your setting before you changed it back to English?

Thanks, confirmed, and fixed. Easily one of the weirdest bugs I've ever seen.

I just saw on the front page that version 10 is out and it supports x64. Where is the x64 executable? I don't see it in the zip package.

It is meant that you can run XYplorer on a 64-bit version of Windows, not that there is a 64-bit version of XYplorer. The latter is road-mapped for this CY.
