Folder item count as separate column

Thanks for including this feature in 9.20, I've been wanting that for a while. I'll probably still use WinDirStat though as my disk space analyzer. The folder item count, while useful, is less useful to me the way you set it up. If it were it's own column I could sort on it to find folders with tons of files, for example temp files and other junk that I often don't want to back up. Another issue with the current layout is that the item count just kinda gets in the way. I do want to see that information but not preceding the folder size in this way. A separate column for this info would be more usable.

I found that utility didn't quite fit my needs so I use JDisk Report and Glary Utilities (both free) as my solution...Glary gives me a total in various ways and was able with it to locate some dead files that had evaded me before.

WinDirStat has some powerful options, still free and open source. Thanks for the other references, I've taken a peak.

That oddball-whatever-you-call-it space map from WinDirStat does nothing for me

...but that's just me...I found that a organized list with some bar graphs for space is more my style...and it was the fact that Glary gave me totals by extension of nbr of files was what helped as I had a large nbr of small files that took up the space, not a few large ones...and Glary helped me narrow my focus to that.
Another free utility that I use (that I forgot above) is Tree Size from Jam-software.

Ya, the space map can be removed with a single click. I don't use it either, although I've gotten some 'ooohs' and 'aaaaahs' from my friends over it. I get more use out of the data table. That's why the folder item count would be more useful to me in its own column, sortable.

I see there's some demand for this, but I don't like the idea of having a column that is used only for a (usually even smaller) part of all items.

But just because the column exists doesn't mean that we have to display it, like the Ext col which i don't have active...and given that this column is a specialized situation, having it usable for only some items isn't an issue to me.

When I do Tags 2.0 and later shell columns it might be a good time to squeeze in another extra column...
