How to customize mouse events?

Is there any way to customize mouse events in the same way as for keyboard shortcuts? For example, changing what the middle mouse button does when pressed on a tab? Firefox is my other heavily used tabbed application and I want to keep basic tab manipulation consistent across XY and Firefox.
Also, would it be possible not to have XY capture all mouse events, including events qualified with the Shift, Ctrl, Alt keys, if they are not otherwise bound to functions in the program?

Configuration > Tabs?

Does this have to do with Direct Folders? In general, to what end?

I don't see anything in Configuration/Tabs which lets you change the middle/scroll-wheel button action. There's only double click. Am I missing something or should I post a formal feature request?

Yes

I can get by with the keyboard shortcut alternative that I mentioned in the other thread, but it's still preferable to just click the scroll-wheel button on my mouse. Or to perhaps hold down the Ctrl key and press the scroll-wheel button.
But the more general point is -- there ought to be full mouse action customization in XY alongside that for keyboard. And the program shouldn't capture any mouse (or keyboard) events that are not currently configured so that other utilities like DF can still work unhindered. Don't you agree?

Perhaps StrokeIt can fulfill your needs. I am using it for mouse gestures in Xyplorer.

Or have a look here for certain mouse wheel actions:

I didn't read too carefully, I'm afraid. I can't find a tweak for this; unless someone else knows something, I'd create a thread in the Wishes forum.

This post seems pertinent. I'm slightly confused by the concept of XYplorer "delegating" keyboard and mouse events while its window is active. Do other programs offer that functionality?
