It's coming:
http://www.xyplorer.com/xyfc/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=4382 It's called Shell Columns in that poll. Though in your case, is sorting by created date THAT much different from when you shot them?

I'm afraid it is. If during 3 weeks of holiday you make 1000 fotos and copy these to PC then, they all will (normally) show the same created day/time, don't they?
(OK - I've learned not to copy but backup, but that's another thing...)

OP didn't say anything regarding copying them to a PC. For all I know, he inserted a memory card into a reader and viewed the photos that way

But what you say still holds true

But he didn't say anything about memory card and card reader, too?
So I'd await for someone working with photos to bulk-copy them to PC, then backup to keep save, und then work local. Though I'm afraid not everyone does so...
(I have backups for my originals and for my modified photos...)

OK, I'll bite. He didn't mention anything about transferring them so it's either a memory card and a reader or some form of wire[less] connection directly to the camera. Did we miss anything?

OK thank you - i'll wait ..........
during hollidays, i transfer photos on a Netbook and i do a backup on an external hard drive 2.5". I use Nikon transfer and ViewNX.
At home, I transfer all the photos on my PC and backup on external hard drives (2 backup)

No?
Almost every single file anyone has on his PC is downloaded from some external medium. So when someone says he works with a file and doesn't mention he has downloaded it you assume he means to work on CD, DVD, USB-stick or -disk, internet, FTP-host or whatever? No?
Und just this copying brings the (big) difference of created-day, isn't it?
This doesn't mean you must be wrong in this case. But if you're right, after having considered the user(s) not having copied, you will see that there are others *having* copied. And still should handle them...
But ok - I think enough of this OT?

If, for every "copy", you use XY-
backup, you can preserve the *original* timestamps of the files. This maybe can help you a bit.
