tags and comments on an external harddrive

Hi, friends!I have a question.When I copy a tagged file and paste or back it up into an external hard drive, XYplorer doesn't show neither the tag nor the comment in the new directory.Is there a way for this to happen or I'm just a sick, incompetent, greedy and ungrateful dumb ass who just happens to piss serious people off with stupid questions?Thank you!

I don't know if you generally are the way you just described yourself, but this particular question does not make you look like this. The case is simply: tags are not copied with the files (but they are moved with the files).

Where did I find that info, Don, as right now I'm looking everywhere (and I know I saw it!) but can't find it! When previously worked with tags I thought that moving a file would keep its tags intact, and was disappointed by not seeing any after moving a file around - but surprised to see them back when returning the file to its original location!

Regarding the topic, as far as I remember tags will not follow files as a visible item even on local paths.

-(keep an eye opened, rachka! :wink: ) will tags 2.0 enhance this property?

As I said, Tags are retained with all file operations but they are not duplicated on copy. This has been broadly discussed here in the forum, but it looks like it did not make it into the help file. Will add...

(I cannot reproduce what you reported about moving...)

The wiki also has a decent section on this: http://88.191.26.34/XYwiki/index.php/Fi ... Operations

//off-topic (list additions for T&C 2.0
Also, Don is there any reason why T&C operations are not added to the Event Log and made un/redo-able?
It would be nice if Select & VF could use the "tag:" syntax from search.
It would also be nice to see the "Find Tag" toolbar button and Select Tag menu item get elevated to command ID status.

As far as i remeber the reason was that at this stage only system file operations are logged whereas T&C are XYplorer specific operations. I can't remember if Don said something about including T&C into Action Log 2.0...

Yes, there are plans to do this. But this will be after completion of the current road map.

I'm currently working on XYcopy (might take a while). Afterwards I will do Tags 2.0 with labels, tags and comments (might take a while as well).
