Waiting for Godot, er, ah ... 8.9

As a Beta aficionado since starting with xy they present no real difficulty and may indeed be one reason for its wonky appeal.
That said, the time draws nigh when 8.9 should be let loose (Urbi et Orbi).

While it's easy to look at the calendar and think that there has been a minor point (8.6, 8.7, 8.8...) release per month, it also does some expectations management. Last time around, 7.9 -> 8.0 took about 7 months. Before that, 6.8 -> 7.0 (there was no 6.9) took 3 months. Nothing to say that either will happen, but those are a couple of precedents. Also, please bear in mind those who have a standard license -- the quicker minor point releases are released, the sooner their license expires. Therefore, I'm sure they'd be very much in favour of having more features (hence longer development + testing times) in each release to maximise their value

It was a comment not a criticism
As one who plays with the Betas nearly daily, you point about those who have a Standard License is well put. Were that my chosen option I'd not be in a hurry to see it expire either.
