Coloured folder icons disappear !

I like to use different coloured folder icons for identifying MY folders, in the sea of yellow icons.Yesterday thought I would try out the colouring choices in XYP--in the Mini tree my coloured icons are still there--in the list view everything is the standard MS yellow/beige -- very confusing !

Is there a feature to restore these colours / create custom colours in XYP?-or do I need to revert the whole of XYP to the standard again? ( I use(d) Folder Marker Pro). It may sound minor, but I really miss the various folders being highlighted--maybe there is an alternative way to do this-am new to XYP and a forum search didn't help.

I assume it's caused by one of the many speed boosters in XY (skips extracting special icons). This can be fixed. But to be sure what you talking about: Got a screenshot?

That was a fast reply ! I have attached a screener - please compare the mini tree icons of folders to those shown in the left pane-you can see all the folder icons are standard detritus beige! If there is a simple way to just colour the folder icons in the list view I am happy to stop using Folder Icons Pro, but am sure you can appreciate the help it gives me?

Thanks.

Do you have any idea how/where these icons are defined? Is there a hidden file desktop.ini inside the folder?

Does it work when you set such a folder to read-only?

One can use the XP native folder properties,
and on one of the property tabs there you can chose an "other symbol"

That will set the folder to read-only (without this attribute it didn't works here. But i can just write to and create items in that r/o folder)
and create an Desktop.ini like:
[.ShellClassInfo]
IconFile=%SystemRoot%\system32\SHELL32.dll
IconIndex=27

You can edit this Desktop.ini by hand or script e.g. to point to your own icon:
[.ShellClassInfo]
IconFile=H:\a\GRAFIK\ICONS\ICLs\coloured folder.icl
IconIndex=6

One can find free icon libraries ICL in the internet, here are a few links listed: http://www.xyplorer.com/xyfc/viewtopic. ... 793#p36793
This 'coloured folder.icl' from above is just one of that and contain an list of 300 icon, many scrap, but some are fine.
coloured folder.icl.zip
Hope this is related and helps.

Yep, I know about this and it works here. I just wonder why it does not work with hulland.

Chaging the attributes does not appear to affect the icons.

I seem to remember that before I opted for changes to the colour scheme, there WAS a coloured icon deposited in each folder using a coloured icon in Colour Folder--maybe this is the prob. as I can't see them now?

Incidentally, all coloured icons are displayed in Windows Explorer as usual.

Looks like I may have to remove my hard-won colour scheme from XYP after all.--sigh !!

Is there an easy way to simply colour the folder icons only, in XYP, as I would rather not have to install a special app. anyway?
