TrackerV3 gets bigger and better by the day and the amount of features and possibilities is almost overwhelming, so...

... I plan to add an HTML-based "Tip of the day..."-like interface, where the user can browse through a collection of useful tips.

Each tip is one HTML file; it can inlcude images and whatever HTML provides. The files will all be collected in one subfolder called "Tips". On startup the app will see what files it finds in that folder and collect their names (which should work as tip-title) in a listbox. From this list, the user can select a tip by the title, or she can simply click next/prev buttons.

Location: My idea is to add 7th tab called "Tips" right of "File View" for this.

Another idea is that users like you can add your own tips to this tip-collection, and even publish them by uploading HTML-formatted tips to the forum, or maybe provide links to tips, whatever...

What do you think? Any other ideas...?

It might be more logical to add it as an item in the Help menu, it is a sort of help.

Adding my own tips is excellent. Something I do for almost all my applications is to create a text file with snippets of information that I find useful, but don't necessarily use regularly.

Yes, but down in the panel it would be more accessible and visible while you work (unlike a modal window).

But maybe you don't always want to create an HTML files for your snippets... so it would be a good idea to allow HTML and TXT.

That's true, but you can still have a menuitem "Tips" in the help menu, that will show the panel if hidden and activate the Tips tab.
Just because a menuitem in the Help menu is a common place for such a thing.

Well, i don't know how you intend to do it, but if you open an HTML file (like in IE) which is actually a text file, I mean like a .txt renamed .html, IE will show it as a text file, so....
